Why Yolo County families call
Legacy Law Solutions
Leave a legacy, not a mess. If you own property in Davis, Woodland, Winters, or Dixon, Proposition 19 may affect whether your children can afford to keep it — and most homeowners won’t know until it’s too late. The right plan addresses this before it becomes a problem.
Skip probate. California probate can take over a year and cost your family 4% or more of your estate in statutory fees alone, and everything becomes part of a public court record. A proper estate plan keeps your family out of court, out of the public record, and in control of what stays private.
Your assets go where you choose — not where the state decides. Without a plan, California’s default law determines who inherits your home, your accounts, and everything you’ve built. With a plan, you decide: who inherits, what they receive, and when they get it.
Long-term care is expensive. Without the right plan, it can drain your savings before Medi-Cal will even help, then let California recover against your home after you’re gone. We help you plan ahead so that the cost of care doesn’t undo everything you’ve built.
No legalese. Straight talk, start to finish. No exceptions.

Here’s What Clients Say About Us
Excellent 5.0 ★★★★★ on Google
I am at retirement age and I discussed options with many of my friends and neighbors who had planned their wills and trusts. I generally believed lawyers who advertise can’t be that good but Matthew Crider’s absolutely no pressure informative approach appealed to me. When my mother died, she used a well known law firm so I knew what to expect. Legacy Law Solutions was very comparable. Matthew’s rates are reasonable no matter how big or in my case, small your estate is. I was able to take my time and ask any and as many questions as I needed. Their nonjudgmental friendly approach made the legal decisions alot easier to make. It relieved alot of my anxiety, especially around my healthcare wishes and my pets. I highly recommend them.
My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Matthew in “putting our affairs in our”. In my initial meeting with Matthew I found him to be professional, personable and helpful — just the sort of person one needs in attacking such an important matter. Once we agreed to work with him I was amazed at how his team jumped into action – we had several people working with us to address our needs and help us with the documents, but Matthew was never far away and everyone on the team was kind and professional. We are very pleased and I love the peace of mind knowing that we have this in place.
Matt Crider is someone in whom you can put your faith and trust. Great lawyer. If you’ve been putting off things like a living trust etc., I suggest you call and make an appointment. Totally reliable.

FAQ
Is there a fee for the consultation?
Yes. Matthew charges $250 for the initial consultation. That fee is credited in full toward your estate plan when you retain the firm. So if you move forward, the consultation costs you nothing extra.
How does Proposition 19 affect my estate plan?
Proposition 19, which took effect in 2021, significantly changed how property tax assessments transfer between parents and children in California. In many cases, children who inherit a family home will face a reassessment to current market value — which can make keeping the property unaffordable. A properly structured estate plan can address this issue before it becomes a problem for your family. The consultation is the right place to understand exactly how Proposition 19 affects your specific situation.
How long does it take to complete an estate plan?
Most straightforward estate plans are completed within 4 to 6 weeks of your consultation. Matthew will give you a realistic timeline during your appointment.
Do I need to come into the office?
No. Matthew works with clients by phone and video as well as in person at the Davis office. Whatever is most convenient for you.
I already have a will. Do I still need an estate plan?
Possibly. A will alone doesn’t avoid probate in California and may not be enough to protect your assets or your family the way you intend. The consultation is the right place to find out where you stand.
What if I’m not ready to commit to anything yet?
That’s completely fine. The consultation is a conversation, not a sales pitch. You’ll leave with a clear picture of your options and no obligation to do anything on the spot.
